What an X scheduler has to get right
Scheduling an X post is a short-form publishing job, not a generic cross-post. The text has to fit the limit the publisher enforces, images have to be attached as images, and the calendar has to show whether the post is still scheduled or already failed.
PostTempo's X publisher accepts text and photos. It rejects posts over 280 weighted characters. URLs in the text count as 23 characters, which is the same weighting X uses for standard posts. Video, GIF, and thread chains are not part of the current publisher, so do not plan a campaign that depends on them.
A practical way to schedule X posts
Write the post in the composer, check the weighted length with the link included, and preview the photo before you pick a time. If a teammate has to approve it, use a plan that includes approvals rather than sharing the X login.
One post, one account
Choose the connected X account explicitly. A cross-post to Threads or LinkedIn should be a separate version, not the same 280-character draft.
Time as a test
Use the X timing page to pick a weekday window, then compare replies on your own account. The planner does not read X analytics.
Status after send
Leave the post on the calendar until you can see a published or failed result. A failed send should stay visible so someone can repair the copy or the connection.
When to use the API instead of the calendar
Use the calendar when a person is choosing the wording. Use API keys when another system should create the draft. Pro, Agency, and Scale include API keys; Free and Creator do not. Immediate publish requires the posts:publish scope, so an unattended agent should not hold that scope unless a person has already approved the text.
